I think this summer in Newport will be one of the best in the last 20+ years. The America’s Cup is returning, if only for the World Series & the Newport Folk Festival has put together an insane lineup…or so I’ve heard (both are on Tumblr, follow them). If possible, show up in Newport a few months early to experience both of these legendary events. That said, autumn in Rhode Island is the best, so you’ll still be entertained. What will you be doing in Newport?

This is the Book that helped inspire the Caillou. Frederick Fenger’s Alone in the Caribbean is the account of his Island hopping journey in a boat similar to the Caillou, which was a sailing canoe called the Yakaboo.
It’d be cool to take one of these up/down the east coast.

Been there, done that…bring the toll back!
A Navy research boat and staff from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts accompanied local divers Charlie Buffum and Craig Harger Tuesday to explore what they believe is the 201-year-old wreck of the Oliver Hazard Perry ship the Revenge, which the two men say they have discovered on Watch Hill Reef.
