The Breakers - Newport, RI
Sometime back in the early 2000s, my family and I visited my cousin and her family at Jersey. It was also the first time that we’ve been to the East Coast, so we visited several places including NYC, Niagara Falls (on both U.S. and Canada sides) and Rhode Island, particularly the Newport Summer Mansions. The one considered to be the best house of all the houses is none other than The Breakers.
I have to agree, after seeing the exterior and interior of this particular summer home (yup, just a summer home), I really fell in love with it. Good thing that this, along with many notable houses, were made as museums for the general public to come and see. I was able to take a lot of pictures but due to my old PC crash, I lost all of them (and this is a stock photo I happened to find at a stock photography site).
I pasted this house here because I’m using this house as a model for my Star Magic Theater building in my NaNoWriMo novel that I’m writing next week. The interior would obviously be different but somehow the architecture and its location (the backyard area is right by the sea) was perfect for my imaginary setting of the story. I wish I was a serious architectural artist for me to recreate the theater based on the architecture of this house.
Once in your lifetime you should visit Newport, RI, just to visit these historical summer mansions. It’s a very quiet, small community and once you step your foot in this town you’d feel like you just went back in time during the high-end Gilded Age. <3
