[If you can, play the song while reading the post :]
I took a trip to Lincoln Woods in Rhode Island with Jason this Wednesday for some bouldering. Wednesday was one of those days. I woke up early and cleaned my room prior to taking my first Anatomy and Physiology exam of the term. I stepped outside and the clouds were burning off, exposing the warm blue sky. The exam went well and so did the Psychology class which I had after. Jason met me with a burrito from Purple Cactus. Yay for locally grown greens and organic veggies! Plus, some chicken because it was my one non-vegetarian day of the week.
(Myself/Jason) The Road to Rhode Island
We spent a lot of time getting bruised and broken by this short problem with a strange top-out.
After deciding to move on, we headed over to the “Yosemite” area
This was a great friction slab climb we did. I have to admit my heart was pounding during the top out, it was all about trusting your shoes and using the friction. And my shoes are very very worn and old.
We got on a few other climbs as well, but we were pretty beat from the first project we worked. The day was about getting back on real rock. It had been over two years since I’d had the privilege of climbing outside. My tendon is finally healed and I’m able to start climbing harder again. The weather held up nicely and the heat was kept company by a breeze. Jason dropped me off back at school in the evening and I got some home work done. To end the night, a few friends and I watched Ong-Bok. It was the second time I’d seen it, and I am still impressed beyond belief!
I am thankful that I spent my last day at 20 passing a test, getting outside with a good companion, watching a movie with friends, and getting back to the basics.
Wednesday was one of those days.
