RI buys 105 acres of forest for nature preserve
More of this… BURRILLVILLE, R.I.—Rhode Island is preserving 105 acres of mature forestland in the northwestern corner of the state. Janet Coit, director of the state’s Department of Environmental Management, says the acquisition will protect an important wildlife habitat from development while providing the public with new recreational opportunities. The state plans to upgrade the site’s existing walking trails and add a parking lot. The state paid $344,000 for the property. Most of the money came from a federal Wildlife Restoration Grant.
